This extremely fine 1892 brick and timber building has the distinction of being designed by the prominent architectural firm of Russell and Babcock, who were also responsible for the Washington State
Governor’s Mansion in Olympia. The building is flatiron with a rear loading dock onto the Prairie Line. The Art Deco style Alt Heidelberg sign on the upper north face of the building is believed to be one of the last outdoor advertisements from a brewery that specialized in mural and hand-painted signage. It’s one of the district’s most familiar ghosts.
