West Coast Wagon Works Building
1950 Pacific Avenue
This charming little two-story brick building was once the wagonmaker business of Tacoma’s colorful populist mayor Angelo Fawcett. “Fighting Fawcett,” as he became known, is credited with finally breaking the railroad’s political control in Tacoma and legend has it that much of the early conniving was done from this building just across the street and under the nose of Union Station. The building lost an upper story to fire but was rehabilitated in the 1980s.
